The North Bay Multimedia Association presents the first in a continuing series of topics on programming inside the Flash environment. Actionscript is a powerful, built-in language that operates from within Flash, and is at the heart of all truly dynamic swfs. Mastering Actionscript can transport your websites and other Flash files from glorified Powerpoint presentations into the realm of full-featured applications. For our first Salon, Marc Tanenbaum, Salon leader, will strike right at what he considers the middle-point of AS programming: understanding functions and prototypes. These are the real workhorses of Flash code, and understanding how to use them will fundamentally change the way you program in Flash. Learn how to radically reduce the amount of code you need, consolidate your scripts into one easy-to-find location, and speed up your workflow. To get the most out of this month's Salon, you should already be familiar with the basic use of event handlers -- e.g., onClipEvent(enterFrame) -- and variables. This Salon is rated: INTERMEDIATE
The Actionscript Salon series is made possible with the support of The Graphic Arts Institute. Since 1968, GAI has been a dedicated leader in providing education and training in the graphic communications industry. GAI is an Adobe Certified Training Provider. |
