Mike Van Horn Can you really get what you want from your business—Even in hard economic times?

Mike Van Horn, author of the book, How to Grow Your Business without Driving Yourself Crazy, believes you can. Mike’s upbeat presentation will inaugurate the first meeting of BOB (The Business of Business) SIG. Newly formed to meet the needs of the NBMA community who are self employed: professional consultants, small business owners, free-lancers, and sub-contractors, the BOB SIG is expected to be an invaluable source and support for professional development and networking contacts.

Mike will focus on two intertwined topics from his book:
· Where is the juice for you in your business? How to find your Sweet Spot of Business Success.
· Get out of your own way! How your management style, habits, attitudes, and beliefs are part of the problem. How to tackle the barriers to growth, profitability, and ease of operation.

“These are two sides of the same coin,” Mike explains. “To get what you want from your business, you first have to know where the juice is—that is, the overlap of what you love doing, what you’re best at, and what people will pay for. But then you have to tackle the barriers—especially your own habits and attitudes—that get in your way.”

Mike has worked with business owners for over 20 years—from sole proprietors up to 100-person companies. He’s heard all the barriers, and has developed many practical tools to overcome them. He has pulled all these together in his book and will be presenting some of these tools to the BOB SIG in a mini-workshop.

Using as examples your barriers to growth, profitability, and ease, he won’t try to be inspirational or exhort you to greater efforts. Instead, you will apply his practical and proven tools to your situation. You will take away things you can do the next day.

If you sign up ahead of time, Mike will be glad to email you his “Questions to Get Your Juices Flowing” to work on before his talk.

Mike’s company, The Business Group, located in San Rafael, has led ongoing problem-solving groups for business owners since 1984. Each group of 10 meets once a month, and members get invaluable support from their peers—tackling everyday problems, setting goals and staying accountable, and upgrading their management skills. “Eighty percent of our members achieve their goals,” says Mike. “The power of the group is phenomenal!”

Excerpts from his book are on Amazon.com.

Help launch the first BOB SIG and put the “juice” back into Bay Area business. We expect a sell-out, so reserve your place today at Acteva.
