Contextual Inquiry is an interviewing method used to examine and understand users and their workplace, tasks, issues and preferences. Findings identified during Contextual Inquiry help drive requirements and improve usability of products.
The presentation provides an introduction on Contextual Inquiry, including web application case studies and methods of communicating Contextual Inquiry findings. Sara Douglas & Farhad Siddiqi: Sara Douglas is a Senior Interaction Designer for the User Experience Group at Fireman's Fund Insurance Company (FFIC), based in Novato, CA. She has extensive experience in usability methods to optimize web content sites, employee portals and applications since 1997. Farhad Siddiqi is an HFI-Certified Usability Analysts (Human Factors International-CUA) Interaction Designer. He has over 8 years of experience in interaction, information and interface design. Marin Community Foundation 5 Hamilton Landing Novato, CA From South of Novato: Highway 101 North Exit at Hamilton Field/Nave Dr. Veer RIGHT at the end of the exit ramp. Follow Nave Drive going north, parallel to 101. Turn RIGHT at Main Gate Road, which leads into Hamilton AFB. At Crescent, Main Gate Road becomes Palm Drive. Go to end of Palm Drive. Turn RIGHT onto Hangar Avenue. Right after you pass So. Palm Drive, go a short distance and take an immediate left into the parking lot. MCF is in Hangar 5, at 5 Hamilton Landing.
