Does your Web enterprise succeed or fail based on how well ideas are presented online? According to John Lenker, “Many online resources fail to transmit a series of compounding notions that communicate meaning appropriately in the moment.” Join us on Thursday, September 26, to learn how building meaning directly correlates with building value in people’s minds.

This presentation, based on Lenker’s “notion-flow philosophy,” will provide practical examples of when, why, and how various media elements help people comprehend the concepts your online messages are intended to communicate. Consider it a condensed version of the ideas in Lenker’s book, Train of Thoughts: Designing the Effective Web Experience (New Riders, 2002). Bring an open mind, your own design experience, and your colleagues, and be prepared for a stimulating exchange of ideas.

Mr. Lenker is an author, educator, and award-winning interactive multimedia design specialist. He co-founded and is president of INVIONI, a Minneapolis-based Web strategy and design consulting firm. He’s also a contributing author to New Riders’ Flash Magic series of books. Over the years, he has worked on numerous projects for Fortune 1000 companies, including AT&T, Comcast, DaimlerChrysler, Digital Equipment Corporation, Eli Lilly and Company, Farmers Insurance, Frigidaire, IBM, Imation, Lucent Technologies, Lincoln Financial, Marvin Windows & Doors, Nestlé USA, Nexus Lexus, Northern States Power, Novartis, Pillsbury, Powertel, RCA, Syngenta, Texas Instruments Inc., United Airlines, and U.S. West. His presentation will draw from this experience.
