Honored as one of Newsweek's Women Shaping the 21st Century, Tiffany Shlain is the Director and founder of The Webby Awards, an award-winning filmmaker, and the on-air Internet expert for ABC's Good Morning America. In this talk, Tiffany will explore the evolution of online culture, web design and the characteristics of award winning websites.
Shlain seems to embody what winning Web Sites should offer: intelligent content and innate whimsy. The Webby Awards are the leading international honors for web sites. For nearly a decade, they have defined the best of the web and set the standard for excellence in web design, creativity, functionality and impact. Hailed as the "online Oscars" by Time Magazine, The 8th Annual Webby Awards received entries from over 36 countries and 44 states, and are presented by The Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a 535-member judging organization co-founded by Tiffany. Through the Webbys, Tiffany has helped raise the standards of excellence on the web, while honoring the medium that is now an integral part of our everyday lives, the business world, and pop culture. "As Founder and President of the Webbys, Shlain, has pulled off an achievement that might seem to merit an award all of its own."- The Guardian (United Kingdom) Save $5 when you purchase your seat in advance More information is available on the Sonoma County Web Developers SIG page NBMA Policy for People with Disabilities In order to make NBMA meetings accessible for people with disabilities, NBMA has the following policy: Any member or paying nonmember may bring an aide for free to any NBMA meeting.
