Entrepreneurs tend to gray early. As an entrepreneur in new media, or as a self-employed person or member of a small start-up, have you thought about how you will pay for and fund your retirement?

Why should you consider retirement planning now? The answers are:

  1. We are living longer (if you were 65 now, you would have a 60 % chance of living to age 85. By the time you get to 65, your life expectancy will be even longer).
  2. The amount of time spent in retirement is increasing.
  3. Inflation over time reduces your purchasing power.
  4. You can't rely on Social Security to augment your retirement income.
  5. It's tax season.
Come to the Entrepreneurs' SIG on Thursday, March 8, to hear Jay Mendoza of Bay State Financial Group and Amy Chung of the Technical Resource Group explain the power of tax-deferred compounding and how you can start a retirement program.

Amy and Jay have a lot of good information that will help you understand the nuts and bolts of retirement planning and implementation. They will explore facts that will determine your personal retirement needs and be ready to answer your questions. You will walk away with a solid understanding of where you want to be in your retirement years, and, more importantly, how to get there.

Jay Mendoza is a principal at San Francisco-based Bay State Financial Group with 15 years' experience in both the institutional and retail sides of the financial services industry. Amy Chung is a Retirement Plan Administrator with the Technical Resource Group in San Mateo.
